I found the following article on NPR from a few weeks ago. I was not aware of this until today. California passed a bill to ban the sale of a pesticide called chlorpyrifos, which has been linked to brain damage in children. It has additionally proven to be harmful to wildlife, including endangered species of salmon and other fish in areas where the pesticide was found in water samples. Farms in California will not able allowed to purchase or even possess the chemical after December 31, 2019. This is great news for environmental health in California, and hopefully the federal government eventually catches up. The EPA under President Obama proposed a federal ban on chlorpyrifos, but this was promptly discarded after Trump took office. This is just another reason to get out and vote!

When I learn about this article I was very happy to learn this news because it means we are moving in the right way even though is just a little movement, it is better than not banning anything at all.
